For this week's STEM challenge, the students researched the various types of homes built by the Apache Native American groups. We analyzed several primary and secondary sources to build background knowledge, and groups discussed the merits of each type of house.
Then, the students were challenged to choose one of the types of houses to build out of clay, sticks, rocks, and straw. Their design had to be strong enough to stand up to the "tornado test," the wind from my fan!
Next, we tested our designs. And all 5 groups had successful designs!
Finally, each group analyzed their design to decide why it was successful. They used the Green Screen to create reflection videos that looked like they were standing in front of a giant version of their model!
