This week, our reading and social studies unit has carried us to Australia! And during our enrichment time, students participated in “March Madness: Australian Animals.”
Inspired by Jerry Pallotta’s Who Would Win series, each student or pair researched an Australian animal and created an Adobe Voice convincing their classmates that their animal was the most fierce. Then, the class watched the videos and decided, based on how persuasive each was, who would win the battle between those two animals. We used a student rubric (focused on the persuasiveness writing of the student, not so much on the actual fierceness of the animal) to score each video in order to battle it out March Madness style!
And the winner is...
The Wolf Spider, by Sara (who by the way also won the Key of Excellence award at the school assembly this morning!!!)
